Found this interesting clip by Ruben Salvadori, giving an inside look of what goes on in the background for conflict photography. Salvadori’s work explores the effect of the photographer as a third party influence behind the background of a photo. The person behind the camera is hardly ever a neutral presence and plays a key role in shaping the outcome of a photo.
For the past few weeks I’ve been filming a bunch of videos for St. John’s various campuses (Manhattan, Queens, Oakdale, Staten Island). Most of it is is pretty typical for what you would expect in a college video. Interview with a professor, random students talking about how much they love campus, things like that. But the lovely people over at the Queens told me I could do pretty much whatever the hell I wanted, so I came up with this promotional piece for the Queens campus’ School of Education.
Sage Bowen took care of the St. John’s crest for us and Marc Rivera handled the music.
Check out the latest project from the people over at Improv Everywhere. Megaphones were placed around public places, encouraging New Yorkers to take a part in “saying something nice.”

I absolutely love this video! It’s so simple. No dialogue, all imagery. This is actually one of the reasons why I decided to pick up an HDSLR when it came time for a new camera upgrade a while back.
I know I’ve been slacking on my blog posts recently, but I’ve been completely swamped with projects this summer and haven’t had any time to do any personal work. You probably won’t see any new work coming from me until next month, but I’ll try and keep this blog as interesting as possible during the hiatus.

It’s been a while since my last update and I just wanted to swing by and announce that I’m not dead! I’m just following through with my vacation plan to take May off from any serious photo work. I’ve been keeping myself occupied and paying bills with some design work during this absence.
I had plans to do an extended photo project to occupy my whole summer, but I won’t be able to follow through with it anymore for scheduling reasons. Aside from that, I’ll be picking up my camera again starting June, even if it’s just for candid snapshots, so you can expect some new stuff soon.
