Key to the City: Staten Island | Conference House Park

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Our key lead us to the shore out in Staten Island where we found the lock broken off from a chained fence. Looks like someone got here before us. Now I honestly hate the beach, and even just plain water for that matter, but I found the area’s calm and private environment to be really appealing.

Key to the City: Staten Island | Buddhist Vihara

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

I think Buddhists are so cool, and this is coming from a non-religious guy right here. I grew up under a Catholic background but my mother would always keep a Buddha around the house saying it was there for good luck. Since I was raised under a Catholic background and knew nothing about Buddhism, the Buddha figures lying around my house seemed so mysterious and interesting. On another note, I also have a weird fixation on elephants and peacock feathers for the same reason; Mama Mitra kept them around the house all the time.

Key to the City: Manhattan | Cathedral of St. John the Divine

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

I’m not religious, but I can still appreciate the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The place is absolutely gorgeous! This was my first time ever stepping foot in there, and I’m pretty glad I took the time out to check it out.

Key to the City: Manhattan | Trinity Church

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

I think I’m one of the few people who’s never been in a graveyard before. They seriously creep me out. Our key opened up the gate for Trinity Church’s graveyard to visit Alexander Hamilton’s grave.

Key to the City: Manhattan | Whitney Museum

Monday, August 16th, 2010

I couldn’t take it anymore. The surge of black and white photos on my already black and white blog was starting to get to me. So from now on I’ll be handling the rest of the Key to the City updates in color.

Check out the Whitney Museum. Our key opened up a 3D blueprint of the Whitney’s expanded building that will open up in the next upcoming years.

Key to the City: Manhattan | Gracie Mansion

Monday, August 16th, 2010

I mentioned before that the Key to the City location for the NYC council member’s office was probably the most boring place I’ve ever been to… I was wrong. Gracie Mansion was the most god awful waste of time I’ve ever had. The Mansion is home to New York’s previous mayors. Other than that, I won’t even bother describing the rest of it.
