A Long Term Relationship

I’m a photographer, among other things. An everyday runner and washed up High School Track & Field athlete, a budding web designer whose roots originated from Dragonball Z fan sites when he was 12 years old, an agnostic student ironically enrolled full time in one of New York’s most heavily influenced Catholic universities, an evening person whose morning ritual consists of not waking up, and various other titles. Overall, I consider myself an artist. A visual artist to be more precise, as I happen to put a lot effort to turn the most mundane everyday tasks such as running to the grocery into an enthralling episode to all my onlookers. People say my life should be a reality show, but I think pictures speak louder than words so I chose to photograph instead of record. I’m rather happy with my decision.
My interest in photography started off in 2006 when I was 15 years old. I met a girl who was two years my senior that shot with a Canon EOS 350D. I’m not the least bit ashamed to admit that back then I knew absolutely nothing about cameras other than the fact that the ridiculously large camera swung around her neck cost more than I made in a year. While her name escapes me now (we were never that close to begin with), I remember she often took pictures of her reflection cast off by mirrors, windows, and pools of water after a rainy day. Two years later in 2008, I enrolled in a photography course in my high school to which I attribute learning absolutely nothing other than how to develop film and the best places to find food when cutting class. Despite this, it was because of that class that I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy my first camera, a Canon EOS 350D; the same camera that nameless girl shot with two years ago.
I’ve been with Canon ever since.
