Hi my name is Francis.

I'm just a college student trying to remember what this life is like through photographs.

Bloggers Blogging Bloggers

Friday, January 29th, 2010

So after my recent Red Ribbon Army shoot and the addition of my 365 Project to my blog, my site has been seen a huge increase in traffic. So much so that it attracted the attention of bloggers Aj Rutledge and Scarlett Spade. After talking for about a week or so, they both requested to do a piece about me on their sites. Surprisingly enough, they actually pushed out their work on the same day, and told me about it at the same time. Haha what are the odds?

You can check them out here.

This one is actually pretty old, but I figured since it’s still related to this entry I’ll bring it back anyway. So if you missed my interview from Fall 2009, check it out here at Read Convention

365 Project: Week 4

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I almost hit a car door while stepping out of car at the St. John’s parking lot, luckily, I caught it just in time, about a centimeter before contact. I think I deserve a couple of accolades for those lighting quick reflexes!

How many girls do you know have a tribute to Zelda tattooed on their body? Probably none. How many girls do you know who’s real name is Elektra? That’s probably none too! Here she is at a Saturday night loft party, shot in the dark right when a red strobe light illuminated her fingers.

We went out ice skating as a late celebration for Jean’s birthday. Just in time too, since it was the last day before the ice skating rink closed for the season. Jean was one of my co-captains back on my high school track team, and while I’m no longer running competitively, he still runs for the QCC track team. I got to meet the majority of the team that night. I’m actually thinking about going back to the sport and training with the team in the upcoming month.

Meet Narfunky the monkey. He belongs to my friend Trisha from St. John’s. Believe it or not, I’ve been talking to Trisha for about half a year online and through text messaging and still never met her. Well Trisha finally made some time for me out of her busy schedule of playing hide and seek and decided to show her face for the first time in half a year. Looks like we’re no longer strangers.

Had the day off from class and spent the afternoon driving around town with Kai and Ashley looking for a good sushi restaurant. Can you believe there are no sushi spots in Long Island open at 4pm? That’s ridiculous! We ended up settling down at a diner/bar in Floral Park.

This shot was influenced by a picture I saw of Kid Cudi standing next to a stream of lights caused by oncoming traffic. I wanted to imitate the photo but didn’t have enough time or preparation so I settled on photographing the Southern State Parkway highway instead.

My friend and make up artist Ashley just got a whole new kit for hair and make up for Christmas. Hell, she even has a salon chair in her basement now. She spent the afternoon working on Kai’s hair, so here she is now, admiring herself in the mirror.

1.18.10 Photo Shoot Part II

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Here are the pics from the last photo shoot I did for my winter break. Samantha (the girl with the tattoos) is also featured as Day 18 for my 365 Project.

365 Project: Week 3

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Happy anniversary to my aunt and uncle! The kids are peering out a window from the restaurant with the green window lights enveloping their bodies.

A classic! A night of Street Fighter Alpha III in my room.

Samantha sporting my favorite tattoo. I used to think lip tattoos were disgusting until I met her, and now I’m actually considering one for myself. For those who are interested, Sammy had to get the tattoo done over 3 times before it finally stayed.

I met Bianca at a dinner with some friends, and shortly after again at a house party to which she boldly told me “I want to be in a photo shoot!!”. She hasn’t gotten her shoot yet, but she’s my 365, Day 19 subject, so she’s half way there! ^_-

I love Lo. Straight out of St. John’s University, she’s the only person I know on campus who’s outfits catch as much attention as mine do.

Last year I was driving Cherrelle (who I constantly refer to as “my Cherry”) around town. Now she has her own license and she’s on the road by herself. Word of caution to other drivers, that’s how she drives… on the regular.

Nothing much to say here, just a couple of profile shots of my close friends.

Red Ribbon Army Photo Shoot Part II

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Here’s some pics from my January 14th Red Ribbon Army fashion photo shoot. I decided to change it up a bit for these pictures and experiment with a new shooting style. The shoot was a mixture of traditional portrait style shooting as well as colored motion shots.

1.18.10 Photo Shoot

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I’ve been dying to set up a tattoo photo shoot for my friend Samantha before my winter break ends and luckily for me, I managed to squeeze one in just two days before the second semester starts. Here’s the behind the scenes video of the shoot. This is probably my last major shoot for the next month or so. In the meantime, keep checking back on the blog because I’ll be bombarding it with a collection of photos taken during the break over the next couple of days. And as always, the 365 Project photos will still be posted every Thursday evening/Friday morning.

It’s All Black Errthing Part II

Here are some sample shots from my January 13th shoot. Those roses were recycled and sent to my favorite high school junior, Kai Miller, at the end of the shoot ^_^.
